Real People Serving a Real God

We understand that God is calling us to become an apostolic church that seeds the development of new Christian communities of believers...

You don't have to choose at Skyline.

For many religious people and institutions, taking religion seriously means people come last. Faith boils down to a set of rules and judgments that leave no room for respect and understanding - for the kind of faith exploration that makes faith a living experience.

But if this option feels wrong, the other extreme leaves us hollow as well: an anything-goes spirituality, where we invent faith experience as we go, blind to the wisdom of generations of seekers who have gone before us and whose legacy of struggle and discovery could make our way more clear if only we would open ourselves to that experience.

At Skyline, someone said it best when they pointed out that what's happening in our community unites a radical hospitality to all people and a passionate devotion to love God. It's not always a perfect balance, but we believe that any faith that does not express itself in love for other people misses the mark entirely.

Jesus summed it up when he said the greatest commandment is to love God with everything we've got and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Not one or the other, but both.

Our Mission is all about making this union of love for God and people a reality in our community and in our individual lives. We reach out to them and reach higher in our own spiritual growth - we welcome them into the community and God's arms, finding a renewed welcome for ourselves. Then we support them in their spiritual growth, as we grow together with them - a process God uses to equip us for every good work. All of us are ministers of a living God - sent into this world as salt and light - and love and grace.
