What’s your net worth? People often ask this question to determine how much money or assets you have. Then, typically, society judges success by how wealthy people are. We’ve all heard the phrases: “A successful business owner,” or “A successful entrepreneur.” By these phrases, people mean that the person has made a lot of money.

But, the current recession has invited people to look again at definitions of success. Many people have lost substantial savings, or their homes, or their jobs during this downturn. Does that mean, then, that we are not successful if we do not have the material things we used to have? Does God’s blessing really equate with financial success? If we believe that, then what happens when we lose our job, our house, our savings?

Over six weeks, beginning January 10, we’ll examine what it means to be truly blessed by God. We will wrestle with the dangers of comparison in determining our self-worth and how to find our true value in Christ. We will explore the only investments that last beyond the grave: our relationship with God and our relationships with people. We will discover how to strengthen the portfolio of our souls and how to risk spending our lives in order to care for others.

Do you know what you are worth? Come join us for worship in the New Year to find out!
