This year, our overall theme at Skyline is "Working Together with One Heart" (see Philippians 2:2). The nine worship series that span September 2007-August 2008 will focus on a different spiritual discipline or practice that strengthens our walk with God not only personally, but as a community of faith. These practices are the foundation of what community life as the Body of Christ is all about.

The nine disciplines are divided into three groups, which follow from our theme statement. Each of the three groups includes a foundational practice and two other disciplines that flow from that practice. The three foundational practices are Prayer (the work or energy of faith), Scripture (the togetherness or oneness of our life together), and Worship (the heart of our faith).

Out of our prayer life, we will explore the practices of Community and Evangelism as we welcome new members and celebrate the Season of Advent. Our celebration of the practice of Scripture formation will lead to an examination of the practices of Sacrifice and Multiplying, in the seasons of Lent and Easter. The practice of Worship will flow into a gathering around the practices of Justice and Sabbath.

What makes this worship series so special will be the level of engagement of our entire church community. Each week, we will celebrate the reality of these practices among the Saints gathered at Skyline, in stories, dramas, testimonies and community practices that engage all members and friends of Skyline. We will have a regular missions focus throughout the year, with opportunities to learn more and share in the work of each ministry. We will include regular video presentations of stories and testimonies from members and friends of Skyline. The sermons will be collaborative ventures that reflect God's movement among us all. Come expecting miraculous transformation as we taste of God's goodness by Working Together with One Heart!
