Lay Leader’s Report – 2005
I recently read a
book about applying your faith to real life, titled Why Drown When You Can
Walk On Water?. I would like to report I have seen that Faith in Action in
so many ways this year at Skyline.
In a year where
30-40 members left the church in September, I have witnessed so much dedication
and commitment from the congregation stepping forward to share their gifts and
enthusiasm. The new Women’s fellowship is growing and blossoming. A new Men’s
Saturday A.M. Study Group has sprouted this spring, and is already hard at work
with outreach projects. Two new praise bands have stepped up to help fill our
worship needs. Missions Pathway has an exciting menu of new mission
opportunities. Caring is compiling a Church Family scrapbook for one of our
members in the military in Iraq.
The Council
presented the Strategic Initiatives to the congregation last Fall through a week
of town meetings with opportunities for Q&A. They were well-attended and as
2005 unfolds, their faithful support of the Missions and Goals becomes more
evident each week. The kick-off of one of the strategic initiatives, the
“Servant Leadership Academy”, a ten-week course designed to help equip church
leaders was well attended and will be repeated in the Fall.
The Stewardship
Campaign theme this Spring was “Growing Deeper - - Rooted in Christ”. This
process is already clearly at work in this faithful, caring community.
