We're planning a Youth Choir and a Youth and Adult Worship Body Expression (not Dance) Company this year. The first time we presented in worship was Sunday, November 2. Way to go Abbey, Joy and Eli! The next opportunity was Christmas Eve! Stay tuned for a schedule of rehearsals (typically Saturday mornings from 10-noon).

JDRF

JDRFOn October 18, we will walked to raise funds for the Juvinile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes. We held youth auction in October to help raise funds of our Team Tory! Register for the walk or donate online to our team today! (our team is called "Team Tory").

Every year, more than 30,000 new cases of type 1 diabetes--the most severe form of the disease--are diagnosed in the United State alone, a large and growing percentage of them children. Day-to-day living is a challenge for people with type 1 diabetes--and multiple insulin injections are only the beginning. But what's even harder is facing the reality of the devastating complications that can stem from their condition.

As you can imagine, it's easy for people with type 1 diabetes to feel that their future is uncertain. But thanks to research funded by organizations such as JDRF, people with diabetes have a new sense of hope. Scientists have made enormous progress, and a cure for type 1 diabetes is now within reach.

We're going to the Youth Rally in Ocean City in January!

Stay tuned for more info about the January 8-10 Youth Rally in Ocean City. The $100 cost will cover transportation, 2-night's hotel stay, most meals, rally registration and T-shirt, and all the fun you can stand from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. We always take a bunch of youth and adult leaders/chaperones and have a great time. You'll want to register by October 11 because the rally registration gets more expensive the longer you wait (our hotel and food costs won't change - but it helps us a lot if we can plan on you being a part of the gang we take next January.

What to Bring:

  • Bag supper for Friday
  • Snacks and cereal, pop tarts, fruit, bagels (whatever you like to eat for breakfast Sat./Sun.)
  • Comfortable clothes and a warm coat for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Swim suit if you're a polar bear (yes, some of us take the plunge every year)
  • Running gear if you'd like to join Pastor Bo's early am "fun runs" on the beach
  • Cell phone if you got one (we text a lot at the rally)
  • Spending money for the exhibit hall for shirts, souvinirs, books and CDs, plus about $10 for lunch on the way home Sunday
  • Your Bible and a notebook or journal
  • Camera (we recommend that you leave your GameBoy, DS, PSP, and iPod at home if you can bear to live without it for a couple of days - the rally schedule is packed and small, expensive electronics devices are easy to lose)
  • A sense of expectation and readiness to have a great time

Where were staying
