Every year, more than 30,000 new cases of type 1 diabetes--the most severe form of the disease--are diagnosed in the United State alone, a large and growing percentage of them children. Day-to-day living is a challenge for people with type 1 diabetes--and multiple insulin injections are only the beginning. But what's even harder is facing the reality of the devastating complications that can stem from their condition. As you can imagine, it's easy for people with type 1 diabetes to feel that their future is uncertain. But thanks to research funded by organizations such as JDRF, people with diabetes have a new sense of hope. Scientists have made enormous progress, and a cure for type 1 diabetes is now within reach. We're going to the Youth Rally in Ocean City in January! Stay tuned for more info about the January 8-10 Youth Rally in Ocean City. The $100 cost will cover transportation, 2-night's hotel stay, most meals, rally registration and T-shirt, and all the fun you can stand from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. We always take a bunch of youth and adult leaders/chaperones and have a great time. You'll want to register by October 11 because the rally registration gets more expensive the longer you wait (our hotel and food costs won't change - but it helps us a lot if we can plan on you being a part of the gang we take next January. What to Bring:
