Small Groups, Outings and Fellowship

For many people, worship on Sunday is the only way they experience life in the community called the Body of Christ. Worship can be an inspiring experience, but it can also be easy to become lost in the crowd. The nature of worship does not typically allow for casual conversation and the opportunity to ask questions and to get to know people better on a one-on-one basis.

Researchers in the sociology of church life tell us that if a person has not been able to find a regular connection to the church community in addition to worship within six months of joining the community, that person will feel isolated and cut off from the church. This connection doesn't have to be a Bible study, though many people find the experience of Bible study has more to do with discovering new ways to relate their lives to the stories from the Bible than it does with knowing all of the answers. It can be as simple as getting together with other people from the church for any reason - volunteering to help others, rehearsing a drama or songset, painting a room together, or enjoying a party.

We offer many opportunities to grow in faith and to get to know other people in our community better. We believe that when we get to know others and experience the blessing of belonging in a place "where everybody knows your name" we also experience God's presence in a powerful way.

You can sign up or show up to any opportunity for gathering outside of worship in groups of people from several to several dozen, on a mission trip, playing softball, on a bus trip to the Cherry Blossom Festival, at a weekend retreat, a half-day seminar, a 6-week Bible study, or monthly Book Club... find out the latest opportunities in the weekly bulletin or our News section.
